Well our newest corporate neighbor Chiquita Brands International is getting out of the blocks fast (sorry for the mixed sports metaphor) Chiquita is relocating it’s corporate headquarters to Charlotte and true to the company’s philanthropic reputation they are hosting a Nationwide PGA tournament / local charity fundraiser.
The Club at Longview is one of Charlotte’s most prestigious and beautiful gated golf communities. See for yourself just how spectacular the Longview homes for sale are here. It is with excitement that I write to you about our partnership with the PGA Tour and our title sponsorship of the 2012 Chiquita Classic at The Club at Longview (in south Charlotte). This is a fantastic opportunity to once again host an event of this caliber in our new hometown.|
This internationally televised event will further expand Charlotte’s image and Chiquita’s iconic brand throughout the world. In addition, we are thrilled that the net proceeds of the event will benefit charities in our regional community; nonprofit organizations receive 100 percent of money from ticket sales. Over the past two years we were able to jointly raise more than $400,000 for local charities.

“…news that Chiquita is moving their major golf tournament to the state. Is it surprising? Not really. They are moving their corporate headquarters to Charlotte, as was announcedlate last year, so its only natural the namesake 2012 Chiquita Classic would also make a move to the South.
The Nationwide Tour event, which was slated to be played in Ohio, is apparently moving to Union Countys The Club at Longview in Weddington, a webpage for the tournament revealed. The dates for the event are listed as Sept. 27-30 at The Club at Longview.”
