Here it is…

Find a realtor you can trust and then…..TRUST THEM.

Yup that’s it – just like you would a doctor, accountant or a good care mechanic. (no it doesn’t work with lawyers for obvious reasons – haahaa) But it does work with Realtors and here’s why…

#1 FIND A REALTOR | Every Realtor is a real estate agent but every real estate agent is NOT a Realtor. Realtors are held to a higher standard of professionalism and a code of ethics. There are agents who are fine but you’ll save yourself headaches by checking the Realtor box!

#2 NUMBERS MATTER | The TOP AGENT (you know the ones with their picture in the paper and Gold this or President’s that) they may be a good choice but don’t let that be your deciding factor. (this is about YOU, not them remember we talked about this) I know “top” agents who have dozens of listings (homes they have for sale) I never could figure out how they keep tabs on all those properties and homeowners! An Realtor with fewer listings may be more hands on and just as good or better!

#2 REALTORS DO THEIR HOMEWORK | I don’t know about other states (your state is probably very different) but in North Carolina if you want to sell real estate – you’re going to school. Realtors have to pass an arduous (ask them) class and tests to earn their license. After that they must attend an additional 90 hours of class / tests and on top of that they are required BY LAW to attend annual real estate law reviews and plus some kind of continuing education.

#3 LOCAL KNOWLEDGE | This one comes right after trust. Yeah, duh you need a Realtor who knows Charlotte; have they lived in, worked as a Realtor in the areas you’re interested in? Don’t get tunnel vision on this one though – some Realtors have ALL the answers while others will also let you know what they DON’T KNOW (you wont find the I DON’T KNOW section on their website). As long as they GET the right answer you’re in good hands…which brings us back to….

THE GOLDEN RULE | Find a realtor you can trust and then trust them. Trust is not the same as always agreeing with your Realtor. Think about your relationship with your doctor – some things she says you’re not going to like (or necessarily do) but you trust your doctor is usually right and that she is acting in your BEST INTEREST.

If you remember one thing, remember this. You may not always agree with your Realtor but know that if you’ve got the right one they are looking out for YOU. If you find this post refreshing please comment below or SHARE it with your friends on Facebook (it’s easy & fun to share)
