Nuclear fission reactions are chain reactions, in which the splitting of an atomic nucleus releases neutrons that penetrate other nuclei, causing them to split.

OK South Charlotte / Ballantyne hasn’t gone ‘nuclear’ yet …but it’s getting closer. Nuclear as in a chain reaction causing South Charlotte to split into a city of it’s own. Providence, NC (at least they get rid of the CH problem…although will be a long time before anyone thinks first about this Providence and not that one. Maybe New Providence would be a better name?

In a classic (aren’t they all) Modern Family episode real estate agent Phil Dunphy is petrified of clowns….a pretty common fear. But the inside joke is that the clown Phil is most terrified of is named FSBO….that’s right the Realtor® nightmare…For Sale By Owner!

I think we can all chuckle about that…but it struck me the other day when I came upon three gorgeous homes for sale in my own neighborhood Montibello (on the same Street Carmel Valley)…all three are well north of $800k probably $1mm plus…and yet all three are FSBO!

No longer that confused  “CH” city or Atlanta’s read haired stepchild, Charlotte has arrived! The US census (yeah the big one) reports that Charlotte was the fastest growing metropolitan area by far up 64.6% since 2000…the wonderfully weird (we love) Austin TX came in a distant second at 51% – take that TEXAS!

The Charlotte Observer reports …

  • No urban area with 1 million or more people grew faster in the century’s first decade than the Charlotte urban area, new U.S. Census Bureau data show. Charlotte’s urban area grew 64.6 percent, to 1.25 million people, from 2000 to 2010.
  • On average, Mecklenburg County’s population grew roughly 25,000 a year from 2006-10, chamber reports show. “They don’t think they can find

Charlotte Mecklenburg Senior Games 2012

Charlotte Senior Games…a very different kind of senior moment!

I’m not sure the Charlotte Mecklenburg Senior Games has dancing but Oh if they did…

It’s that time of year again when seniors take to the track , the pool, the court as the road…it’s the Charlotte Mecklenburg Senior Games April 16- May 26. Everything form swimming, cheer leading, archery, track and field, bowling. golf and yes….shuffleboard!

But take a look at this video this is not your Father’s shuffleboard (well it actually may be – but you get the point!)

Mountainbrook neighbors keeping Southpark safe!

When Rodney Monroe took over as  Charlotte’s top cop he challenged everyone in Charlotte the police force and neighbors alike to take a role and a stake in public safety. His innovative approach has made all the difference for Charlotte neighborhoods.

Southpark’s Montainbrook neighborhood is the latest ‘winner’ in the city’s South Charlotte Homeowners Against Residential Crime competition. This from the South Charlotte Weekly  ”The competition pits local neighborhoods against one another in an effort to reduce residential crime in their communities and the entire response area.
